Tiny MCE button not working correctly

When I set a different style in the shortcode to override the default setting the default setting is what I still see.
The problem stems from the fact that the TinyMCE editor inserts color= instead of style= for the code. The code I get from the editor is.
[wptabs color="wpui-cyaat9" effect="fade"][/wptabs]
Instead of
[wptabs style="wpui-cyaat9" effect="fade"][/wptabs] -
